Serving up cotton candy at the Annual BBQ

A Great Start

The past week has been a busy and exciting one; new student move-in, orientation week, first classes, new faces, new friends, BBQs and world records. On Thursday, the School of Computer Science hosted the Society for Computing and Information Science (SOCIS) Annual Fall BBQ. The event saw hundreds of new computer science students celebrating the start of a new year with current undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. Thanks to everyone who came out, all of the volunteers, and everyone who organized such an excellent event.

Happy Move-In Day

The School of Computer Science would like to welcome all new students who are moving in today (and of course say hello again to all of our returning students).

Welcome to the University of Guelph. Welcome to the SoCS. We hope that the next few years will be filled with laughter, smiles, and great success.

Please join us on Thursday September 5 at 5pm for the Annual Society of Computing and Information Science Fall BBQ. Come meet current students, as well as staff and faculty of the SoCS. Come for the burgers (both veggie and non), but stay for the people.

Orientation Week Activities With SoCS

Orientation Week 2013 is fast approaching and there are many things for students, staff, and faculty to do. Not sure where to begin? How about joining us at the School of Computer Science's SOCIS (Society for Computing and Information Science) Annual Fall BBQ. The event, scheduled for Thursday September 5 at 5pm, takes place just outside the Reynold's building. Sit and have some free food with new friends, including the current undergraduate and graduate students, and our staff and faculty.

CPES Undergraduate Poster Session

Last Wednesday the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences hosted the CPES Undergraduate Poster Session. Designed to showcase undergraduate research projects, the event drew a large number of contributors from all of the units within CPES. Seven undergraduate students from the School of Computer Science presented four posters covering a range of topics.

Convocation 2013

Congratulations to all students who were awarded their undergraduate and graduate degrees as part of Convocation 2013.

In total, the School of Computer Science saw 21 of its undergraduate students walk the stage to receive their degrees.

The School of Computer Science would also like to recognize the outstanding achievements of Erich Janzen, and Michael Delong - the two students in SoCS with the highest graduating GPAs.

Hey Future Gryphons

Hey future Gryphons, this is a quick post to let you know that there are several new ways for you to connect with the School of Computer Science (SoCS) community.
