The School of Computer Science at the University of Guelph is happy to announce that we have been chosen to host the 5th Ontario Celebration of Women in Computing conference for 2014!

The ONCWIC conference will include keynote speakers, workshops, student poster presentations and panels on a variety of topics. The conference will foster social and networking opportunities, the opportunity to present and discuss research projects and allow students to be part of a larger community of women in technology.

The School of Computer Science is proud to announce that it will be hosting a presentation and networking event by entrepreneur and venture capitalist Nigel Stokes on Thursday, November 28th from 3-5pm in the Engineering THORN Atrium.

On Friday, November 8th, the School of Computer Science was visited by Shawn C. Wilde, a student from the 1970's who graduated with a B.A in Computer and Information Science.

Shawn visited the CIS*3210 Computer Networks class to discuss his 10 years of IT experience and 20 years of Software Development experience. Shawn brought to life his career in the Silicon Valley, the IT side of business and how a career after Guelph University has sustained him.

On Tuesday November 5, Andrew Hilts of Luum.com will be on campus to speak to students interested in careers in the software development industry.

The talk will be held from 4-5:30 in the John T. Powell building, room 212.

If you caught CBC's Dragons' Den on Wednesday October 30th, you may have seen the demo for Shnarped, a mobile application founded by SoCS alumnus Kamil Sikorski.

More than a year in development, third and fourth year students from the School of Computer Science officially launched the Farm-To-Fork website on Thursday, October 3rd.

The School of Computer Science is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Annual Undergraduate Awards. The awards honour the top students in each of the first three years of study, and the student with the highest cumulative average.

Dr. Mary McLeish Scholarship (First Year)

Tomorrow marks the first ever Guelph Coding Community (GCC) event. Organized by School of Computer Science undergraduate students Corey Alexander, Danielle Fudger, Jon Snowdon, Lee-Jay Cluskey-Belanger, and Ryan Wilson-Perkin, the group was created to explore computer science topics not typically offered during regular class time.
