The Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) is hosting a Graduate Open House for prospective graduate students.
This event will provide an opportunity to learn about the MSc and PhD graduate degrees offered in FARE, as well as a chance to chat with faculty, current students and alumni about their experience.

John Cooper’s  Master of Science major paper presentation took place on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Room 107,J.D. MacLaughlin Building.

The title of his presentation is: "The Role of Strategy and Uncertainty in the Implementation of Traceability by Food & Agricultural Businesses: A Review of Published Case Studies."

A paper by Bethany Lipka (a graduate of FARE's MSc program and lecturer in the department) and Professor Brady Deaton in the journal Water Resources and Economics was the focus of a recent CBC news piece. Their research provided empirical evidence that First Nations that partner with nearby municipalities to supply their drinking water are less likely to have boil water advisories.

Glenn Fox led a seminar course in Austrian Economics, sponsored by the Institute for Liberal Studies, and organized by Matt Bufton, Executive Director of the Institute, in Ottawa from October 23-25, 2015. The course was organized as a Socratic Seminar, with formal discussion, based on a text, in which the leader asks open-ended questions.

Katie Caldecott and Alison Grant are FARE undergraduate students who were in the FARE*4310, "Resource Economics" course in Winter 2015.

The Canadian Agricultural Economics Society hosted an awards ceremony at their annual meeting to recognize and encourage excellence in agricultural economics and related fields. Several members of the FARE family were recognized for excellence in research. M.Sc.

Agri-food policy research at the University of Guelph will be enhanced through a new grant and scholarship supported by the former George Morris Centre.
