I am pleased to announce that Jessica Kelly has joined the ministry as the Direct Farm Marketing Program Lead effective March 3, 2014.

Jessica is a graduate of the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University.  While at Ivey, Jessica was a case writer and teaching assistant.  She also did a business internship in Tanzania. After graduation, Jessica was a business lecturer at Ivey until 2012.

Kelvin Tsang’s  Master of Science defence took place on Friday, January 17th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 106, Rozanski Hall.

The title of his thesis is:  " How Local is Locally Produced Foods?  A Choice Analysis on Red Tomatoes and Gala Apples ". 

I spent the second weekend in January of 2014 in Toronto, teaching a course on Austrian economics.  This course was organized by the Institute for Liberal Studies (www.liberalstudies.ca) and funded by a grant from the Hecht Family Foundation (www.hecht.org).  Undergraduate students, 18 in all, from across Canada, participated.  They came from programs in economics, finance, business, history, chemistry

FARE Graduate Student, Jennifer Christie, has been listed on the Financial Post 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada.  This is a huge accomplishment.  We can all be very proud of one of our outstanding graduates.  Please see the attached article from the Financial Post.

The final examination for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for Na Li  was held on Thursday, December 19th, 2013 at 12:00 noon in Room 106, Rozanski Hall.

The title of his oral presentation is "Essays on Trade Agreements, Agricultural Commodity Prices and Unconditional Quantitle Regression". 

The final oral examination for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for Aaron De Laporte was held on Tuesday, December 17th, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 106, Rozanski Hall.

The title of his oral presentation is "The Supply of Switchgrass and Miscanthus in Ontario". 

Karthik Nadella's Master of Science defence took place on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Room 107, J.D. MacLachlan Building.

The title of his thesis is:  "An Examination of the Adoption of Conservation Practices on Owned and Rented Farmland in Ontario and Manitoba".
