Enhanced Student Learning
U of G offers state of the art information
technology to enhance student learning.
- There are more than 4,000 microcomputers on campus, including
more than 1,000 computer stations in at least 50 public microcomputer
labs.
- Through some 9,000 network connections, faculty, staff and students
tap into the campus high speed network and the World Wide Web.
- Forty classrooms, and all of the campus residence rooms, are
connected to U of G's high speed network.
Learning technologies link U of G with students
across Canada and around the world, including:
- 9,000 course enrolments in distance education
degree studies
- many of the 30,000 registrations in non degree
credit courses through continuing education and Open Learning programs.
The Library

Through the Tri Universities Group of Libraries,
an automated system called TRELLIS combines the collections of the
libraries of U of G, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier
University, giving faculty, staff and students access to 7.5 million
volumes. About 11,000 students and faculty visit the U of G library
every day.
The Learning Commons is a unique collaborative
initiative which provides enhanced support services to students
and faculty. Guelph's Learning Commons has student learning as its
focus and consolidates services related to learning, writing, research,
and information and computer literacy in one area.
Library Holdings
Guelph ranked above the national average in
library holdings per FTE among comprehensive universities, according
to a recent Maclean's survey.
