Enhanced Student Learning

U of G offers state of the art information technology to enhance student learning.

  • There are more than 4,000 microcomputers on campus, including more than 1,000 computer stations in at least 50 public microcomputer labs.
  • Through some 9,000 network connections, faculty, staff and students tap into the campus high speed network and the World Wide Web.
  • Forty classrooms, and all of the campus residence rooms, are connected to U of G's high speed network.

Learning technologies link U of G with students across Canada and around the world, including:

  • 9,000 course enrolments in distance education degree studies
  • many of the 30,000 registrations in non degree credit courses through continuing education and Open Learning programs.

The Library

Through the Tri Universities Group of Libraries, an automated system called TRELLIS combines the collections of the libraries of U of G, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, giving faculty, staff and students access to 7.5 million volumes. About 11,000 students and faculty visit the U of G library every day.

The Learning Commons is a unique collaborative initiative which provides enhanced support services to students and faculty. Guelph's Learning Commons has student learning as its focus and consolidates services related to learning, writing, research, and information and computer literacy in one area.
