Lang graduate students receive $225,000 in research funding

Four Lang graduate researchers are among the latest Canadian researchers to receive funding through the federal government’s granting agencies.
 
The graduate students received a combined $225,000 in funding through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), which helps fund and support research excellence in the social sciences and humanities.

U of G, Lang School mourns death of food laureate Anita Stewart

It is with profound sorrow that the University of Guelph marks the passing of Anita Stewart, U of G’s food laureate and founder of Cuisine Canada and Food Day Canada.

A long-time culinary journalist, food historian, U of G food champion, and self-described food activist and disruptor, Anita Stewart died Oct. 29. Niagara Falls is to be lit up in red and white Oct. 30 in her honour.

Lang School celebrates inaugural Lang Scholars

The Lang School recently celebrated the inaugural recipients of the Lang Entrance Scholarships, which recognize outstanding incoming students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
 
The scholarships were established in 2019 as part of the transformative $21-million gift by Stu and Kim Lang to name the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. The entrance scholarships are available for incoming undergraduate students, graduate students, and students in Lang’s executive programs (MBA and MA Leadership).

Gryphons celebrate record number of student-athlete academic award winners

The University of Guelph recently celebrated a record number of student-athlete academic award winners from the 2019-2020 season, with 1-in-3 varsity student-athletes achieving 80% or higher during the season.
The Lang School is proud to recognize that 40 Lang Business varsity student-athletes were among this year’s Gryphon Student-Athlete Academic Award Winners.

Lang professor invited to join panel for $8-million community sport relief fund

Norm O’Reilly, professor at the Lang School and director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership, was named by Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) as a member of their community sport relief panel to help allocate $8-million to support Canadian not-for-profit sport organizations during the COVID-19 crisis.

Lang students raise $5,677 for CIBC Run for the Cure

JDCC Lang, a Lang-affiliated student organization, earned the title of Guelph's Top School Fundraiser in the 2020 CIBC Run for the Cure Campaign after raising a total of $5,677.

The funds raised more than doubled their original goal of $2,500 and is a record for the student association.
