BComm students set U of G record at DECA U Provincials

A team of Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) students set a U of G record by winning 15 awards at the 2018 DECA U Provincial competition on January 19th. Facing stiff competition from other business schools across Ontario, the U of G delegation took home the third most awards at this year's event, more than double their totals from 2017.

DECA U recognized the U of G students for their outstanding performances in accounting, human resources management, travel management, and fashion and retail management.

CBE named a PRME Champion School

The University of Guelph’s College of Business and Economics (CBE) has been named Champion of the United Nations initiative Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) for another two-year period. Over the next two years, CBE will continue to contribute to thought and action leadership on responsible management education in the context of the United Nations sustainable development agenda and will actively engage in the PRME Champions’ flagship project, “Mainstreaming the SDGs in PRME Institutions.”

U of G entrepreneurs compete in CBaSE’s Hub pitch competition.

The Centre for Business and Student Enterprise (CBaSE) recently hosted their Hub Incubator Program Pitch finals, bringing together U of G based start-ups with a panel of industry experts and mentors. This pitch-styled competition awarded the business that demonstrated the most potential for sustainable growth and best embodied the University’s mission to “improve life”. Jerry Ennet, a University of Guelph engineering student, was awarded the People’s Choice Award for his 3D printing company.

Accounting alumna earns a spot on CPA Canada’s CFE honour roll

Accounting alumna Camille Gardiner (BComm '16) has been placed on the CPA Canada’s prestigious honour roll for the Common Final Examination (CFE). The examination is a part of the qualifying process to become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

Gardiner is one of 69 CFE candidates to be listed on the honour roll, out of 5,581 who passed the exam.  She is currently working as a Senior Associate in Assurance for PwC LLP in Waterloo, ON.
