A University of Guelph innovation that utilizes genetic selection methods to mitigate methane emissions in dairy cattle is the recipient of the University’s Innovation of the Year Award for 2023.
This annual award is presented by the Office of Research and the Research Innovation Office to acknowledge researchers for their creative strategies or products that positively impact people's lives.
This year's winning innovation was the result of a collaborative effort involving researchers and industry partners from around the world, including U of G researchers Dr. Christine Baes, Dr. Flavio Schenkel, and Dr. Saeed Shadpour from the Department of Animal Biosciences in the Ontario Agricultural College, as well as Dr. Filippo Miglior from Lactanet Canada and Dr. Francesca Malchiodi from Semex.
