PhD in Rural Studies - New Graduate Student Orientation

Orientation for new graduate students to the PhD in Rural Studies program is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:30 am via videoconference.  Details and link will be provided closer to the event date via your UofG email.  This introductory session with faculty and staff will provide more information about the start of the PhD RST graduate program.  This will also be an opportunity for new students to meet other students in their co-hort.  

BLA New Student Orientation with LASS: Session 1

The Landscape Architecture Student Society (LASS) will hold the first session for new BLA students on Tuesday, September 8th at 10:30 am via videoconference.   Link will be provided via your UofG email address prior to event. Meet members of the Landscape Architecture student society.  There will be a question and answer session and also tips and tricks to help get you started.  Feel free to ask us any questions!

MSc Thesis Defence: John Michael Jordan MacDonald

John Michael Jordan MacDonald, a master student in Rural Planning and Development in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development; will defend his thesis on "Community Integration of Non-Profit Organizations:  A Study of Nova Scotia’s Employment Services Ecosystem".

RPD Thesis Defence: Sharon Wan

Sharon Wan, a candidate for the Master of Science in Rural Planning and Development, will defend her thesis on August 24, 2020 from 1.00 - 3.00 pm. Sharon’s MSc thesis is titled "Exploring Chinese Immigrants’ Active Transportation Patterns Through the Lens of Community Planning". The defence is open to the public and will take place via videoconference. If you are interested in joining the videoconference please contact rpd@uoguelph.ca for instructions to join. 

BLA Virtual Town Hall Meeting with Prof. Martin Holland

Hello BLA 2, BLA 3 and BLA 4: Prof. Martin Holland, BLA Program Coordinator will be hosting a videoconference  BLA Town Hall Meeting on Friday, July 17, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm to discuss the Fall 2020 semester. The Rural Planning and Development program is hosting a second virtual town hall meeting with all incoming RPD students on July 8 at 12.00 pm EDT. The meeting is an opportunity to receive updates regarding the fall semester and ask questions about the RPD program. Check your UofG email address for instructions to join the meeting!

PhD Thesis Defence: Rachana Devkota

Rachana Devkota, a Doctoral Student in Rural Studies in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, will defend her PhD thesis on "Responsible Innovation for Mechanization in Hill side farming in Nepal:  A Gender Perspective".
