SEDRD's "Rural Romp"

Details

Inaugural SEDRD “Rural Romp” at University of Guelph

On March 18th, from 11:30 am - 5:30 pm, the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development will be hosting its first ever Rural Romp!

What is a Rural Romp you ask?
A group of Rural Planning and Development students are organizing an event this spring and inviting students from other Ontario planning schools to Guelph. As more Ontario Provincial Planning Institute events take place in Toronto, this is a great opportunity to invite students to come and visit Guelph for a social. This day will feature: a poster session; facilitated break out discussions (rural focus); a walking tour of Guelph with the City’s Natural Heritage Department and a social at the Albion to follow!

When:  Friday, March 18th, 2016

Schedule for the Day:

11:30 am -12:15 pm – Poster fair, Planning BINGO, and Refreshments (Landscape Architecture Building)
12:15 -12:30 pm – Dean of OAC Welcome, Interim Dean, Wayne Caldwell
12:30 -1:00 pm – Guest Speaker: Monica Walker-Bolton, Huron County Planning Department
1:00 -1:30 pm – “The Rural Flip” Discussion Groups

Are you interested in transit planning, the integration of new Canadians, homelessness, or agri-food economic development? Flip an urban issue on its head and explore it in a rural context!

1:30 -2:00 pm – Lunch Break
2:00- 3:45 pm – Walking tour with Stephen Robinson, Heritage Planner for the City of Guelph
3:45- 5:00 ish – Pub Social at the Albion with an option to stay later and go out in Guelph
