This workshop will walk you through how to use Canva in creating digital content for school assignments, student group promotions, and for social media. Learn all the tips and tricks to making captivating digital designs.

Learn to Use the Cricut

Date: October 8th

Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Come make a custom tote bag using the Cricut to precisely cut out custom designs onto Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV). All materials will be provided for this workshop.

Use Embroider Software

Date: October 4th

Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

This workshop will focus on how to turn png and jpeg files into digital stitch patterns using the Janome Art Digitizer program. These patterns can then be used on the Janome Embroiderer to customize clothing, tote bags and more. 

NOTE: A follow up workshop will be held on October 18th, where we will be taking files produced in this workshop to make custom shirts.

Have some clothing you want to personalize? Drop by with your t-shirt or sweater to personalize it during this workshop! 

NOTE: Due to time constraints, only simple two-coloured designs can be printed during the workshop. Students are welcome to use the embroiderer at the MakerSpace at any time throughout the semester to complete larger projects. 

We will also be hosting a Learn to Use Embroidery Software workshop, where you can learn to create your own stitch designs. If you are interested in using the embroiderer, please sign up for the October 4th workshop as well.

Want to learn the basics of sewing? Learn how to cut out a pattern, pin it, prepare the sewing machine, and sew your very own reusable coffee cup sleeve. All materials will be provided for this workshop.

In this workshop we will create Play-Doh sculptures, us 3D scanners to create digital versions, and upload them to TinkerCAD where you can alter the designs further. All materials will be provided for this workshop.
