Results are in from newest Alliance-funded research on farmland values and rental rates

Responses to the annual survey were collected by Dr. Brady Deaton, professor and McCain Family Chair in Food Security in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics (FARE) at the Unviersity of Guelph.

Since 2016, Deaton has led an annual survey open to all farmers in Ontario who own or rent farmland to better understand farmland values and rental rates.

Once all data are collected, the results are made publicly available. This allows for market transparency, fosters effective investment decisions and financial planning and eventually, will allow the team to compare current prices with historic trends.
