Alliance-funded researchers consulted by Wellington Advertiser on diversifying farm land use in Wellington County
In 2020, U of G researchers conducted a study to find out if and how the province's Guidelines on Permitted Uses in Ontario’s Prime Agricultural Areas publication was being implemented.
Dr. Wayne Caldwell, professor in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development; Pam Duesling, PhD candidate; and Emily Sousa, an HQP scholar, Ontario Federation of Agriculture land use policy analyst and student researcher on the study; interviewed farmers who expressed interest in on-farm diversification to generate additional income. They spoke to the Wellington Advertiser about their findings.
