Workshop: Let's Talk Gender Equality

Campus inclusion and community have always been a top priority at the University of Guelph. You can do your part to help. Join the U of G community in an honest and engaging discussion around gender equality, with the bold objective of breaking down barriers and stereotypes. The workshop discussions are open to all U of G students, staff, and faculty. This year's workshops will be hosted virtually through the Zoom platform. There will be four sessions to choose from:

LIVE: Perseverance Rover Lands on Mars

The Guelph Physics live stream series continues Thursday Feb 18th with the Martian Rover landing.  Join us and witness planetary exploration history as we cover the landing of the Perseverance Rover on Mars. Joining us is Guelph Physics faculty and instrument lead scientist on the Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity Rovers, Dr. Ralf Gellert.

Opened to all high school girls -- and grade 8 girls!  Free event but registration required. Hosted by University of Guelph Women in Computer Science (GWiCS).

Join Let's Talk Science Outreach at the University of Guelph on February 11 for a panel event to celebrate UN's International Women and Girls in STEM Day. This panel will feature University of Guelph students and scientists working in various STEM fields. Panelists will provide a brief background about their journey into STEM and their experience as a student or scientist in a STEM field. We welcome and encourage questions from the audience!

Solar System Stroll

The Solar Systems Stroll is a physically-distanced science walk through town (locations: Guelph and Fergus) and hosted by Royal City Science, an outreach initiative led by U of G physics experts Joanne O'Meara and Orbax. Using the virtual map (easy option) or coded clues (challenge option), families will find planetary stations positioned at scaled distances from the Sun. At each planetary station, junior scientists will be able to scan a QR code that reveals information about the planet, as well as instructions for a cosmically fun experiment at each site.

The Social Dilemma

Join an engaging talk on the popular Netflix documentary, The Social Dilemma, with Carter Cousineau from U of G’s Centre for Advancing Responsible and Ethical AI (CARE-AI). The Social Dilemma highlights how social media companies can manipulate users by using algorithms that encourage addictive behaviour. Many social media companies also gather personal data, which is used to target users with ads that are largely unregulated. In partnership with Wellness @ Work at the University of Guelph.

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Virtual Vigil

Posted on behalf of Student Wellness: You are invited to join our community memorials in honour of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, where will mourn and remember the women killed at the L’École Polytechnique in Montreal in 1989 & women killed by femicide in 2020. Our SAFE *Sexual Assault Free Environment" team will host a virtual vigil on December 7th @ 1:00pm. Registration and vigil access is available here:

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women

December 6th is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day each year, we remember the 14 women who were killed at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal and the many who were and still are affected by this tragic event.
