Looking for ideas on complementary studies? We can help.

Here are some tips on how to choose your complementary studies electives:

  • Know what skills you want or need to develop and find courses with activities that provide you with opportunities to develop those skills.
  • Talk to program counsellors or instructors before registration about courses. Know what to expect from courses.
  • Look at the learning outcomes or graduate attributes listed in the course outline. These will tell you exactly what skills will be taught and emphasized in each course.
  • Ask upper-year students what courses they found useful and why.

(NOTE: When selecting courses from this list, you will need to make sure that you have the appropriate number of courses from each of lists CS-1, CS-2 and CS-3 - see  https://www.uoguelph.ca/engineering/complementary-studies-electives )
