Here are some tips on how to choose your complementary studies electives:

Know what skills you want or need to develop and find courses with activities that provide you with opportunities to develop those skills.
Talk to program counsellors or instructors before registration about courses. Know what to expect from courses.
Look at the learning outcomes or graduate attributes listed in the course outline. These will tell you exactly what skills will be taught and emphasized in each course.
Ask upper-year students what courses they found useful and why.
