U of G is committed to excellence in teaching and research. Guelph spends more on instruction and research costs (measured as a percentage of its total expenditures) than majority of other universities in Ontario - well above the provincial average. And the University spends the least on central administrative costs measured as a percentage of total expenditures.
National Teaching and Scholarly Awards In 2002, Maclean's found the University of Guelph to be ranked 5th in Canada for faculty holding national teaching and scholarly awards in the comprehensive university category and 27% higher than the national average. Eleven Guelph faculty have been awarded the prestigious 3M awards for teaching excellence.
Maclean's also found the University of Guelph to be ranked 2nd in all of Canada for Faculty with PhD's, more than 6% ahead of the national average in the comprehensive universities category.
