Victor Chanasyk Undergraduate Medal for Professionalism [C0265]

The Medal was established in 1991 by Victor Chanasyk who was the founding director of the School of Landscape Architecture at the University of Guelph. Victor had a storied career both in practice and education which included expertise in regional landscape planning, a specialty in residential garden design and landscape design in general, and advocated for the preservation of the rural countryside in Wellington County. His career also included the initial proposal for the establishment of the University of Guelph Arboretum and the establishment of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program from its approval by the University Senate in December of 1964 to its launch in 1965, making it the first landscape architecture program in Canada. The decision will be based on the recommendation of the faculty in the School of Landscape Architecture. Application is not required.

Students graduating in June or who gradauted at the previous winter or fall convocation from the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program who, in the view of the faculty, is deemed to be the most promising professional practitioner.
