Established in honour of Dr. Gary Partlow, who was a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Sciences from 1976 to 2005. He was a strong advocate of the Bio-Medical Science Major, and for years was the counselor for students in the Bio-Medical Science Major, dedicating hours to the academic success of these students. This award was established by his friends in recognition of the many years of service to the major and his belief in the quality and potential of each of its students. Apply with a one-page nominating letter with description of student’s involvement. The nominator may be anyone familiar with the student’s contributions (students may self-nominate). Student must signify acceptance of nomination and submit two (2) letters of reference from individuals familiar with the nominee’s contribution to the BMSSA or other community organization, including one letter from a peer of the nominee, as well as a resume/CV are to accompany the nomination. Transcripts will be obtained by the Department. Nominating letter, supporting letters and resume/CV are to be submitted to Kim Best at kbestb@uoguelph.ca by March 31.
Students in their final year of Biomedical Science Major and have applied to graduate or have graduated from the previous two convocations, who have played a significant leadership role in the Bio-medical Science Student Association (BMSSA) and/or the wider community while maintaining academic excellence with a cumulative average of 80% or higher.
