Established in 2021 by Beef Farmers of Ontario (BFO) to support a graduating DVM student in the Food Animal or the Rural Community Practice stream who has an interest and intends on working with beef cattle. BFO was founded in 1962 to advocate and act as a unified voice for Ontario’s beef farmers. BFO’s vision is to foster a sustainable and profitable beef industry, and have Ontario beef recognized as an outstanding product by consumers. Apply during the call for convocation awards to the office of the Associate Dean, Students and Academic, Ontario Veterinary College with a one-page statement demonstrating interest in and experience with beef cattle including confirmation of completion of the beef rotation, or suitable equivalent, and a reference letter from a supervising veterinarian from the beef rotation, or the equivalent external rotation, confirming the student’s interest in beef cattle. Selection will be based on demonstrated interest in, and involvement with, beef cattle. In the event of equally qualified candidates, selection will be based on highest grade obtained in the Beef Module of VETM*4530 Health Management III.
Students who have successfully completed Phase 4 of the DVM program in the Food Animal or the Rural Community Practice stream, who have completed the beef rotation with OVC, or equivalent external rotation, and who have interest in, and involvement with, beef cattle.
