Established by the family and friends of Virginia McEwen, an alumna of Macdonald Institute, Class of '57 (B.H.SC.), recipient of a University of Guelph Master's degree in 1971 and an enthusiastic participant in a wide range of activities of the University of Guelph Alumni Association for many years. One scholarship is awarded to the student with the highest average in at least 9.50 credits, but no more than 14.5 credits completed and the second scholarship is awarded to the student with the highest average in at least 14.5 credits completed. Application is not required.
Students majoring in Adult Development (ADEV), Child, Youth and Family (CYF), Child Studies (CSTU) or Family Studies and Human Development (FSHD) who have participated in curriculum-embedded experiential learning (i.e. Co-op work terms or Practicum courses) and satisfy one of the following: i) completed 9.50 credits; ii) completed 14.50 credits and have achieved a minimum of 80% in a least one practicum or one outstanding work term report.
