Established by Anstice Blom, who earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in 1980 and her Master’s in Family Studies in 1985, and went on to a rewarding career supporting children, families, and the community within a local school board. Inspired by her own academic journey at the University of Guelph while raising young children, this scholarship aims to support students balancing similar responsibilities. Apply by May 15 to the CSAHS Awards Committee at csahs.awards@uoguelph.ca with a statement confirming you are supporting a dependent child/children. Selection will be based on the highest cumulative average. Students may only hold this award once.

Students registered in any program offered by the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences who are supporting a dependent child or children. (“Dependent child” includes the child of the student, less than 26 years of age and dependent for support on such student. The following will also be considered children of the student: persons the student is adopting, stepchildren of the student; and persons related to the student by blood or marriage whom the student is legal guardian. The restriction of 25 years does not apply to a physically or mentally disabled child who is over 25 years of age and who had this condition and was a dependent of the student before the age of 26.) Preference will be given to students who have completed a minimum of 10.0 credits and who are registered in the Child Studies major, Family Studies and Human Development major or Family and Child Studies minor.
