The CCL International Co-op Scholarship was established in 2019 as part of a transformative $21 million gift by Stu and Kim Lang to name the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics in honour of Stu’s father. This scholarship and others established through this gift are considered among the most prestigious awards in the Lang school. As founder of CCL Industries in 1951, the world’s largest label manufacturers, Gordon S. Lang is a true Canadian success story. A man of values and principle, he embodied all of the characteristics that make U of G business students special; humble, hardworking, entrepreneurial and resilient. Apply by April 15 for summer/fall travel or October 1 for winter travel by email to the Lang Awards Committee (lang.awards@uoguelph.ca) with a 500-word statement and include confirmation of your intent to take part in an international experience (e.g. study abroad approval email, internship or co-op approval email, etc.). The statement should A) summarize or describe the international learning opportunity you are planning to participate in and B) Discuss, “Why do you want to participate in an international learning opportunity and how do you think your international learning experience will contribute to your education and development as a business student?”. Award will be given to the student whose statement demonstrates a passion for their chosen international learning experience and who best articulates what they think they can learn from the experience. This award will be offered once per year in either spring or fall. If a recipient is not selected for the spring offereing, applications for winter travel will be accepted.
Students registered in a Bachelor of Commerce program offered by the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics who are participating in an international learning opportunity. This could include an international co-op work term, internship, study abroad experience, or other international academic learning opportunity.
