Established in 2021 by P3 Veterinary Partners who are grounded on the foundations of Pets, People and Practice. With a growing network of hospitals coast to coast across Canada, P3 is committed to honouring and supporting the local communities they serve. This award will support those with a strong orientation to providing community-based care in Primary practice who are engaging in an externship. P3 recognizes that gaining experience in rural communities plays an important role in creating connections, strengthen understandings and building a complete picture of Veterinary care opportunities. Apply during the competition for travel grants in the Winter semester, by submitting a CV and a one-page letter listing your learning objectives for the externship, explaining how they will contribute to your understanding of small animal rural practice. Applications should include proof of acceptance from the supervisor of the host practice. Selection will be based on the most significant demonstration that the externship will support their learning objectives and contribute to their understanding of small animal rural practice.
Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons registered in Phase 3 of the DVM program entering the small animal stream, who will be engaged in an externship in a rural community veterinary practice in Ontario. A rural community is defined as having a population of less than 25000.
