Grey Bruce Veterinary Association has long provided social and continuing education opportunities for veterinarians within Grey and Bruce counties to foster collegiality and promote connections within the local veterinary community. The GBVA travel grant is offered to assist students with the expenses of participating in an externship placement in Grey-Bruce. Our local veterinary clinics have many opportunities for students (and new graduates!). We recognize that housing options and travel expenses can be a barrier to placements outside of a student's home region, and we offer this travel grant to allow every student the opportunity to experience Grey and Bruce Counties to see what rural practice and small towns can offer! Apply during the competition for travel grants in the Winter semester by submitting a CV and a one-page letter listing your learning objectives for the externship, explaining how they will contribute to your understanding of veterinary practice in Grey or Bruce County. Applications should include proof of acceptance from the host practice. Selection will be based on the most significant demonstration that the externship will support the students’ learning objectives and contribute to their understanding of veterinary practice in Grey or Bruce County. In the case of equally qualified candidates, selection will be based on the highest program average.
Students registered in Phase 3 of the DVM program who are participating in their Veterinary Externship (VETM*4900) placement in Grey or Bruce County.
