This scholarship honours Eugene Robert Woodsit (aka Gene, Woody) of Leamington, Ontario in Essex County, who devoted his professional life to agriculture. The son of immigrant farmers, Gene grew soybeans, corn, tomatoes, wheat, and beans, was the clerk of Mersea Township, ran a sporting goods business for years, and before his retirement was the secretary manager of the Essex County Associated Growers. Gene wished to continue his love of farming by leaving a scholarship to likeminded students. Apply by October 7th by completing the online Ridgetown Scholarship Application Form. Selection will be based on the greatest demonstrated involvement and commitment to farming. In the event of a tie, the student with the highest average will be selected.

Students registered in the Associate Diploma in Agriculture program who have experience working on a farm. Preference will be given, first, to students from a family-operated grain, fruit, or vegetable farm and, second, to a family-operated farm of any kind.
