The Walterine Pellew Memorial Scholarship honours the life and legacy of Walterine Pellew, a trailblazing woman from Georgetown, Guyana who epitomized confidence, kindness and commitment to community. Walterine was a beloved wife and a mother. She had eleven children and was a steadfast advocate for education as a gateway to opportunity regardless of one’s social status. This award not only recognizes Walterine's incredible contributions, but also seeks to inspire future generations to continue her mission of creating a more equitable and inclusive society through the transformative power of education. Apply by March 31st to lang.leadership@uoguelph.ca with a statement declaring you are receiving less than 50% of the cost of tuition in financial support from your employer and, if applicable, a statement self-identifying as Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) or a person of colour/racialized student. Selection will be based on academic and professional excellence based on the admission package.
Canadian citizens, permanent residents and protected persons entering the full-time MA Leadership program who are receiving less than 50% of the cost of tuition in financial support from their employer. Preference will be given in the following order 1) Black students 2) Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) or persons of colour/racialized students.
