Established by professor K.J. Kasha from the 1983 Ernest C. Manning Award that he received in recognition of his research on haploidy in barley. To provide awards to cover travel expenses for one or more students for overseas meetings, the award may be held in conjunction with other travel awards. Preference may be given to students with other travel awards and/or students planning to attend an overseas international meeting and who have demonstrated good research potential.
