Established by Dr. Eugene Benson to honour his wife, Dr. Renate Niklaus Benson. Renate, a professor in the Department of Languages and Literatures, founded the European Studies program at the University of Guelph. She was an authority on modern German literature with work published in English, German and Japanese. Apply by March 1 to the College of Arts Awards Committee at coaawards@uoguelph.ca with a letter describing the travel details and a research statement indicating the relation of the trip to the project or describing the impact of the research communication on the student’s development. Submit a proposed budget relating to travel costs. Selection will be based on the highest 'impact score'. When assessing the candidates, each should be ranked in order by an impact score. The impact score assesses the degree to which the student’s specific research plan will be supported by the travel.
Full-time students registered in the European Studies MA program pursuing travel to Europe for research or communication of research, such as disseminating research at a conference.
