As the nights start to get darker quicker and the weather gets colder, you may be looking for some new indoor virtual activities you can participate in. The Wellness@Work Programming Committee have compiled a few online resources you can check out to learn something new, explore unique places around the world, have some fun and/or connect with others.
Connect with Nature and Animals
- Bird Cams: A virtual window into the natural world of birds
- Monterey Bay Aquarium: Tune in to a web cam to experience the wonder of the ocean
- San Diego Zoo: Watch a live camera to observe the zoo animals
- Many national parks are available for viewing thanks to Google Earth and Google Arts & Culture, including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite
Travel from the Comfort of your Couch
- Explore some wonders of the world, including the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, or even the Sydney Opera House
- 360-degree tours of Disney parks like Disney World, Disneyland, and even Epcot are available through Google Street View
Tour Interesting Buildings and Spaces
- Explore NASA’s Space Center and experience virtual reality experiences on the Space Center Houston app
- View some of the best mural and graffiti on the streets of Toronto with this interactive map from StreetARToronto
- View exhibits at the Royal Ontario Museum
Watch a Performance
- Enjoy a Shakespearian performance like Hamlet or Romeo and Juliet from the Stratford Festival “From Stage to Screen.”
Learn Something New
- Search for home cooking videos from your favourite chefs
- Try a new workout or fitness routine from the many free fitness apps and videos now available
- Explore courses on LinkedIn Learning to learn a new skill
- Join a free course like Yale's Science of Well-being online course
Socialize Virtually with Friends and Family
- Try Words with Friends or Draw Something as fun games you can
- Use a virtual platform to video chat with family and friends
