It is no surprise that time spent in nature reduces stress and promotes wellness. Mathew White and his colleagues conducted a study with almost 20 000 participants and found that spending 2 hours a week in nature is associated with good health and wellbeing. Whether this is time spent alone or with family, the Arboretum has a variety of options to engage with nature.
This can include:
- Walking the trails of the Arboretum by following their map or joining a tour they might be hosting.
- Explore the biodiversity of plants and trees in the Arboretum.
- Go geocaching.
- Join the Wednesday Walks program. These are currently held virtually.
- Spend time time with your children and teach them about the various biodiversity that the Arboretum holds. The Arboretums Activity Book for Young Naturalists is a fun engaging booklet that children can use to connect with and understand what they see in nature.
