Alliance-funded study to compare robots to conventional farming methods
These self-driving, weed-cutting robots will "transform the future of farming," says Dr. Mary Ruth McDonald, professor in the Department of Plant Agriculture within the Ontario Agricultural College.
McDonald and her team are assessing the strengths and economic benefits of two farm robots and anticipates the robots will help address future agricultural labour shortages. The three-year project, which began in 2023, is taking place at the Ontario Crops Research Centre and farms in Bradford, Ont.
