A Marked Queen

This Common Eastern Bumblebee (Bombus impatiens) queen was marked at a farm for a mark and recapture study! Bumblebees are one of the larger species of bee and have been called the teddy bear of bees and originally we called humble bees because of their relatively non-aggressive nature. This was one of the components of my field work examining realistic field exposure of agrochemicals to bumblebees.
