Tall bluebells in an alpine meadow

Pictured is Tall Bluebells (Mertensia Paniculata) growing within the alpine meadows of the Kluane Lake region. This plant is the focal species in a study investigating pollinator-mediated selection on floral traits along an elevational gradient. This study examines how and why flower size changes as you move up the mountain. Fieldwork for this undergraduate thesis project took place in the Kluane Lake region of southwestern Yukon territory in the Canadian North atop the mountain known as Outpost Plateau.
