The fracture surface of an Al lattice as viewed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The complex geometries of the lattice structure were produced using the investment process. It replicates the fine and complex geometries of modern castings. Upon compression failure, the samples are analyzed to determine the mode of failure.
