It was the end of the summer, and we had so much work done for the research. Bee bearding is a fun activity at Honeybee Research Centre (HBRC). This time was volunteered by Yiza Bernal, a veterinary internship student from Mexico, with his biggest supporter, Alvaro De la Mora. Bee bearding is wearing several thousand honey bees on the face, usually as a sideshow-type demonstration at agricultural shows. Hive bees are attracted into position by a queen in a small cage worn under the chin. We also communicate with the people to understand better how to live with the bees and realize the critical role of honey bees in the ecosystem.
