Food supplements are important to maintain the health of many organisms. Honey bees use natural pollen as a source of proteins, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. When natural pollen is not available in the environment, pollen substitutes are used instead. Unfortunately, natural pollen can be contaminated with chemical products. These products are used in agricultural crops to control pests. In this picture, we can see the bees from a colony being fed with a patty with pollen substitute. This pollen patty was mixed with an agricultural insecticide to determine its impact on honey bees´ health.
