While completing a semester abroad in Bremen, Germany, my roommate and I experienced much of the art history and culture we had studied in our undergraduate degree. A significant moment for me was traveling to the Highlands of Scotland and visiting the Bronze Age site Clava Cairn near Inverness. Here I am standing in the largest of the stone markers/memorials that were created over 4000 years ago! It was incredibly important to me because it showed a trace of past civilization and the creativity of past people to honour the deceased.
