These honey bees' thoraxes were dotted with colours to indicate the diets they were fed during the crucial period of health and foraging behaviour development. In the summer of 2024, newly emerging honey bees were collected from the apiaries of the Honey Bee Research Centre at the University of Guelph. These bees were raised in a cage and kept exclusively for our research. This study aims to uncover the adds-on nutrients to the commercial protein diet for honey bees. Our goal is to provide a protein supplement to assist honey bees pollinate more efficiently, which increases the value of pollination services to beekeepers and agriculture.
