Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Technologies and Quantum Leap Africa (QLA): Comfort Mintah (PhD Applied Math) and Mike Nelson (PhD Physics) are pictured here in this “mathematical action photo” working on a research problem in quantum information science. Comfort and Mike are currently PhD students at Guelph, working under the supervision of Prof.’s David Kribs, Rajesh Pereira, and Bei Zeng, and are among the first ever research visitors to the new QLA institute, in Kigali, Rwanda, which is the Research Centre associated with the new African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) centre based there. AIMS-Rwanda is currently one of six AIMS centres across Africa, and Comfort and Mike were visiting the centre and QLA as interns supported by Prof. Kribs’ Mitacs Accelerate Research Project.
