This patient heifer dairy calf is one of many enrolled in this previous summer's research trial, led by Lydia Conrad and myself (Michele Brower). This picture was taken on one of her last weeks in this trial, where she was still being sampled for measurements like rectal & rump temperature, body weight, respiratory rate, and blood sampling. This study is focusing on heat stress in dairy calves, and was conducted at two commercial farms this summer, with roughly 200 calves and 80 dams enrolled.
