As the name (Nanospider) suggests, these spider web-like fibers were developed through electrospinning technology. Electrospinning is a technique that uses a high voltage (35 - 45 kV) electric force to spin nano-sized fibers (average diameter = 500 nm). These fibers are made of biodegradable materials and contain silver nanoparticles (antimicrobial agents) to use as a filter for the respirator masks. This environmentally friendly and functionally advanced filter system can offer a more sustainable alternative to conventional masks.
