Honeybee queens are an essential part of any research that goes on in honeybee research. They are the sole egg layers of the colony and can be utilized for genetic research in short periods of time. In order to find the queens quickly when jumping into a hive, we must clip their wing and paint a dot on their back to identify them. For somebody who isn't familiar with honeybees, they might not know the queen looks different from the workers! Here you can see the honeybee queen in great detail.
