Pictured here are a selection of envelopes from a larger collection of archives that I transcribed and digitized while working as an archival researcher for Dr. Margot Irvine. The archives, dated between 1926-1958, were donated to Dr. Irvine by descendants of the Cladel family and have been vital sources in her preparation of Judith Cladel’s biography. Cladel was a French author, playwright, and art historian and she was largely responsible for the creation of the Rodin Museum, home to some of Auguste Rodin’s greatest works.

A group of envelopes and a post card addressed in French to Madame Rolin-Cladel, 114 Chausée de Boitsfort, (Près Bruxelles), Boitsfort, where she lived in in Brussels, Belgium. One letter is addressed to Mademoiselle Françoise Rolin at the same address. The letters are placed on a wooden table and each one has a unique grouping of postal and time stamps, also in French.
