Spiders are often seen as something to fear rather than want around. I want to change that view. Spiders are incredibly important biocontrol agents- meaning they eat pest species, making them suitable natural enemies in agroecosystems. This is the topic of my PhD chapter 2: Spider diet in agroecosystems: potential bio-insecticides? This project includes cutting-edge research on the spider predator diet collaborating with the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario (BIO). The objective is to understand how the farming system, crop season, and prey availability determine predator diets' composition.
