Indigenous Guardians, David and Raymond spot a bear on the hillside of Bay du Nord after picking up the People, Plants and Policy lab from a field site. The site in Bay du Nord was part of a study validating a land cover model of Miawpukek First Nation's Traditional Territory. This research supports the community's efforts in land stewardship, providing data for environmental management and decision-making, and represents the first remote sensing-based classified map of heathlands in Newfoundland.
