The Squirrel Life project aims to make science more accessible and engaging for a wide audience. This citizen science project asks participants to observe and count squirrels in their neighbourhoods. Squirrels are a relatively common animal seen in a variety of habitats. Through the Squirrel Life project, my eyes have been open to the beautifully fascinating life of squirrels.
Here I observed a squirrel collecting leaf litter for its nest. As winter approaches, squirrels will make nests (called dreys). A squirrel's drey helps insulate and protects it from the harsh cold.
