A parasitic wasp (family Ichneumonidae) captured on Queen Anne’s Lace . Parasitic insects often need pollen and nectar resources as part of their life history. These parasitic wasps are beneficial insects which provide ecosystem services of biological control in farmlands. This picture was taken in an ALUS tallgrass prairie on a farm. This research project is conducted by the MacDougall Ecology Lab, where insect surveys take place on agroecosystems to measure insect ecosystem services.
