This sweet heifer dairy calf was the first unenrolled calf of this previous summer's research trial. This photo is taken at her last 'check in', where researchers Lydia Conrad and myself (Michele Brower), conducted her final weigh in, took her last blood sample, and cut off her last activity monitor. This study is focusing on heat stress in dairy calves, and was conducted at two commercial farms this summer, with roughly 150 calves and 80 dams enrolled. Lydia & I were very lucky to have such a sweet and friendly first calf, we had to snuggle her at her last visit!
