Pictured here is an envelope containing a letter from 1928, written by Judith Cladel, a French author and art historian – the letter is part of a collection of archives that I transcribed and digitized while working as Dr. Margot Irvine’s research assistant. The messages contained within the collection - such as those in Cladel’s agenda as well as letters like this - contain first-hand evidence of her role as curator of the Rodin Museum, highlighting the importance of archival research, especially in relation to historical “facts”.

A blue envelope addressed to Madame J. Rolin-Cladel, 114 Chausée de Boitsfort, (Près Bruxelles), Boitsfort. The letter has four stamps on it; 3 of them are red and read 'République Français' and 1 is a colourful stamp featuring a child in a window with a bouquet, this stamp reads 'Vivre, Comité National de défense contre la tuberculose' (Live, National Committee for the Fight Against Tuberculosis).
